{"id":16066,"date":"2018-12-17T19:21:27","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T18:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dide.org\/how-to-use-the-dide-tool-in-my-school-to-prevent-school-failure\/"},"modified":"2018-12-17T19:21:27","modified_gmt":"2018-12-17T18:21:27","slug":"how-to-use-the-dide-tool-in-my-school-to-prevent-school-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dide.org\/en\/how-to-use-the-dide-tool-in-my-school-to-prevent-school-failure\/","title":{"rendered":"How to use the d\u00edde tool in my school to prevent school failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">More and more schools, associations, and psycho-pedagogical centers are anticipating the needs of children and are committed to preventing problems that interfere with their learning, development, and well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Failure to take these difficulties into account during the child&#8217;s growth by family members and the education sector can have negative consequences on their personal, social, and educational development (dropout or school failure). These possible difficulties, detected in time and acting with commitment and empathy, are likely to evolve into life and learning opportunities for the child and the whole family (inclusive education) instead of becoming a difficulty or stigma. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The dide tool to detect possible difficulties and guide families consists of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Digital questionnaires<\/strong> (questions to parents and teachers about daily situations with the child)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Indicators<\/strong> (names of the signs of a possible difficulty)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reports<\/strong>: a Prevention Report with the results of the observation, and a Guidelines Report with advice and guided activities with which to actively participate in the proper development of children.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are going to propose some tips for using and communicating the <a href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/evaluacion-orientadora-del-perfil-del-alumno-dide\/\">dide tool<\/a> that we have collected from the experience of many centers that have introduced dide in their early detection protocol, take it as suggestions and for any questions or concerns you can <a href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/contacto-formulario-page\/\">contact<\/a> us to discuss it personally.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Recommendations for counselors and teachers who are dide users:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Good <strong><u>internal communication<\/u><\/strong> (to teachers) and <strong>external<\/strong> (to families) to explain why the school is already part of the #efectodide (we provide a document to facilitate this information). As well as <strong>informing about the innovative methodology,<\/strong> it helps a lot to involve <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/evaluacion-orientadora-del-perfil-del-alumno-dide\/\">teachers<\/a> and <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/dide-familia-dificultades-necesidades-hijos\/\">families<\/a> in the project. <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Integrate the d\u00edde methodology into the school&#8217;s current detection protocol<\/u>.<\/strong> It is highly recommended that both teachers and families become aware that before taking the student out of the classroom to attend the guidance department and be assessed, <strong>they will go through a non-invasive d\u00edde study that does not affect their daily routine.<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This decision has multiple benefits for teachers, families, the counselor themselves, and of course, for the child (the child only leaves the classroom if necessary and, if they finally have to go to the guidance team, it will be much faster as they have the information of the alerts detected).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">FIRST STEP:<\/span> dide study<\/span><\/strong> to all students through the observation of parents and teachers<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SECOND STEP:<\/span> Reports and results of the study <span style=\"color: #000000;\">with the<\/span><\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/span>identification<\/strong> of students with their educational needs<br \/>\n<strong>THIRD STEP<\/strong>: <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Assessment<\/span> of cases by the guidance department, and intervention.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Print and laminate<\/u> <\/strong>the 7 pages of the list of indicators by age groups to have them visible in the guidance department. They are very graphic, families and teachers can visualize all the indicators that can be detected for each age. (<a href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/docs\/indicadores_DIDE_para_imprimir.pdf\">download the PDF<\/a>).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_5682\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5682\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dide.org\/docs\/indicadores_DIDE_para_imprimir.pdf\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5682 size-large\" title=\"dide indicators, warning signs, learning difficulties\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Indicadores-1024x478.png\" alt=\"dide indicators\" width=\"1024\" height=\"478\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5682\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The dide questionnaires take into account up to 35 indicators that interfere with the learning, development and well-being of the child or adolescent<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">d\u00edde is located in the phase prior to diagnosis, automatically collects information from the child&#8217;s environment to offer it organized by indicators to the guidance department <\/span><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><u>Let&#8217;s start using dide selectively before using it &#8220;massively&#8221;<\/u>, depending on the type of situation of the school and its way of proceeding:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The tutors themselves can propose between 3 and 5 students from their class per year who they believe are likely to be observed with d\u00edde, without this meaning that during the course they can propose someone else.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>d\u00edde also becomes a tool for the tutor themselves<\/strong>. We will be able to provide each tutor with a user with <strong>\u201cTutor\u201d profile<\/strong> so that <strong>they are the ones who initiate the relevant studies<\/strong> (they know the children who may be candidates, they know and talk to the families and meet with the rest of the child&#8217;s teachers). Tutors can create the studies, which means that they can ONLY see their own d\u00edde studies, NOT those of other tutors, but the d\u00edde administrator (in this case the counselor or educational counselors of the school) can see everything that all the tutors do.  <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At that moment and with the result in hand, it can be decided whether the child finally needs to be assessed by the guidance team or other measures are proposed to continue observing (remember that guidance guidelines are generated to act from the first minute).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The guidance team receives the filtered students and with the report in which the alerts and discards can be seen, this data gives much more speed to the detection\/diagnosis process and therefore, to the intervention.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If the school has one or more internal and full-time educational counselors, the normal thing is that they themselves create the d\u00edde studies as proposed by the tutors themselves. But if the school has internal or external and part-time educational counselors, in both cases the \u201cTutor\u201d profile can be used, in the second case it is more convenient for the tutors to have said profile. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>D\u00edde allows you to do studies to one or several classes of the same age<\/strong>. There are schools that combine the use of d\u00edde selectively and massively in the following way: <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They select a course (usually 4-5 years or even 2-3), another age group can be selected according to the educational center.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And the rest of the students selectively at the discretion of the tutors.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><u>In short<\/u>: <\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Internal and external communication<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Print and laminate the table of indicators to have them visible in the guidance department<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Introduce in the internal protocol of early detection the phase of automatic collection of information with d\u00edde (without the intervention of the child)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Empower the tutor with a new observation and detection tool<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><u>Social innovation.
