Successful Attendance at the Technological Innovation and AI Conference: Transforming Learning in Schools

Last February 20, the Palacio de Colomina CEU in Valencia hosted the conference “Technological Innovation and AI: Transforming Learning in Schools”, a key event for the educational community that brought together experts in artificial intelligence, education, and psychology to discuss the impact of AI on learning.

Organized by FECEVAL, CEU Cardenal Herrera, Ricochef, and Dide.org, the event offered a comprehensive view of how AI is revolutionizing education, from the personalization of learning to its impact on the organizational structure of educational institutions.

Welcome and Introduction

The conference began with a welcome from Juan Manuel Corpa, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs and Digitalization of the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, who highlighted the importance of adapting the education sector to technological advances to avoid generational distancing between teachers and students​.

Next, Mariola Hernández, Managing Director of FECEVAL, emphasized the need to promote pedagogical innovation in schools​.

For her part, Elena Betés, CEO of Dide.org and Emooti, highlighted the role of AI in inclusive education and its ability to transform learning​.

Main Presentations and Debates

AI as an Ally in Education

Gonzalo Romero, Head of Education Iberia at Google, presented various AI tools developed by Google, such as Gemini, NotebookLM, Google Vids, and Read Along, which allow for personalizing learning, optimizing teachers’ time, and encouraging student participation​.

The Humanized Development of AI in Organizations

Óscar Cortijo, Director of People at CEU Cardenal Herrera University and member of the Think Tank, addressed the challenges of implementing AI in education from an ethical and organizational perspective. He presented key recommendations, including the need to avoid biases in AI systems, the development of digital skills in teachers and students, and the creation of inclusion plans to avoid digital divides​.

Cognitive and Emotional Challenges in Learning

Hilario Blasco Fontecilla, General Director of EMOOTI, analyzed the impact of technologies on the cognitive and emotional development of children. He emphasized the importance of prevention and anticipation of difficulties, in addition to proposing strategies to integrate technology into classrooms in a balanced way​.

Demonstration of AI Applied to Learning

In one of the most anticipated sessions, Alberto Ramírez (General Director of Dide.org) and Samuel Romero (Director of Projects and Development at Asindown) presented a demonstration on how AI can personalize learning through personalized stories and curricular adaptation. They showed how DIDE allows knowing the profile of students and facilitating their development with adapted strategies​.

Impact of AI on Families

Begoña Ladrón de Guevara, President of COFAPA, addressed the impact of technologies and AI on families and the need to strengthen collaboration between teachers and parents. She pointed out that the key to success in the integration of AI in education lies in trust and open communication between the school and families​.

Reflections and Closing

The conference concluded with a discussion panel led by Mariola Hernández and Elena Betés, who summarized the main conclusions of the event, highlighting the importance of regulating AI with ethical principles, training teachers and families in its use, and promoting a more inclusive and personalized educational model​.

Finally, Raúl Adames, Director of the CEU Schools Area, closed the event with a call to action to continue exploring the possibilities of AI in education and work on its responsible implementation​.
