The digital transformation of classrooms with Google for Education

Google is one of the most common ways to access the internet in Spain. For a decade, it has also been one of the companies that has most strongly committed to the digital transformation of classrooms.

Díde shares with Google For Education the goal of transforming differences into opportunities by facilitating the detection of educational needs to address diversity with cooperative tools and methodologies that break the space-time scheme and involve families and teachers.

Google and díde collaborate to improve education through technology, pedagogy, and a commitment to helping all students and teachers with new early detection methodologies and with all the tools that Google makes available for education, such as G Suite or Chromebooks.

From Google Education, we want to support and be very close to initiatives that address special educational needs. We are very happy to start a common journey to improve education and address the needs of the protagonists of education.   Therefore, we join efectodide, a movement for inclusive education, equal opportunities, and the fight against bullying.

Google for Education, a proposal that comes from a software package specially designed for teaching

The Google for education proposal consists of three main pillars:

  • Professional tools, G Suit for Education
  • They have designed computers, called the internet era, which are chromebooks, devices designed to solve the challenges that educational institutions have in managing devices securely at scale.
  • They create resources to support the development of digital competence for teachers and students. The Teacher Center de Google for education portal, with specific content so that teachers can train in the adoption of tools for education.

Our mission is to offer open technology to support the improvement of learning everywhere and democratically for all learners.

With G Suite, teachers and students share daily work online both in class and in homework.

Teachers recognize the usefulness of these tools within the classroom because they get to know them much more and know their individual process more directly than with a mere exam. In addition, they gain in agility, as Pilar Ruiz, a teacher at the Maestro Rodrigo de Aranjuez school, commented: “It makes it much easier for me to see the evolution of the students when they do work from home, they send it to me through the classroom and there I have time to correct the tasks and give them feedback online commenting on what they have done well and the aspects that can be improved.

These are tools that allow us to do cooperative work breaking the space-time scheme. You can work perfectly collaboratively with students in different places and at different times.

The system has controls to limit access to inappropriate websites

All this in a specially controlled environment thanks to the security systems implemented by Google that does not give data to third parties and guarantees compliance with the data protection regulations, in addition they have the national security scheme, high category.

More than 90 million students and teachers currently use G Suite for Education

The digitization of classrooms is a growing reality thanks to, among other proposals, this one from Google, which not only maintains its firm commitment to education but also continues to expand its offer with new developments and programs.

This proposal for the digitization of classrooms is already consolidated in dozens of schools, institutes and universities throughout Spain, such as the UAM where, in addition to the educational project, research is also being carried out.
